Why Vanguard changes the maths

Vanguard isn't a normal anti-cheat. It loads a driver at boot, runs at kernel level, and it's already up before Valorant even launches. That gives it a lot more visibility than the usual user-mode setup.

Which is exactly why the internal-versus-external question matters more here than in most games. If something's going to be watching the game process closely, the sensible move is to stay out of it. That's why "Valorant external" is the search worth making rather than just "Valorant cheats."

Keys and durations

Requirements and how your key works

Windows 10 or 11. That's the whole requirement list, there's nothing else to install or configure first.

Your key is locked to your hardware, so it runs on one machine at a time. Change PC or swap parts and support will reset it for you, as many times as you need, there's no limit on resets. What isn't allowed is sharing: one key, one person, and no account sharing either.

If a build goes down

If a build gets detected or goes offline for a patch, your time is paused, and then it's compensated automatically once it's back online. You don't have to ask and you don't pay for days you couldn't use, which is the bit people worry about most before buying a longer key.

What the status badge tells you

What's in your hands and what isn't

Riot looks at a few different things, and it's worth knowing which ones come down to how you play:

• Client-side checks on the game process. This is the part external keeps you clear of.
• Hardware, since Riot enforces at that level too, not just per account.
• Behaviour and reports, meaning aim patterns and pre-fires your opponents notice. Nothing to do with your software.
• Account signals, like a brand new account suddenly playing like a veteran.

Half of that list is just how you play. That's the part people tend to forget about.

Getting the most out of it

1. Play on an alt account. We always recommend it. Cheating on your main isn't worth it, and an alt means nothing you care about is ever on the line. Alt account options are here.
2. Check the badge on the day. Vanguard updates land often and the badge keeps up.
3. Ease off the settings. Killcams are a thing, and anything that looks inhuman gets you reported and then banned.

Closet cheating beats rage cheating

If you want a key to last, play like you're not running anything. Closet cheating means keeping it quiet: no snapping across the map, no pre-firing every wall, no clips. Most people who get caught got reported by other players rather than picked up by the anti-cheat, so playing calm does more for you than any setting.
